The district of Punta del Agua is located 146 km from the city of San Rafael and 80 km from General Alvear. It is located at the southern end of the department, and is the largest in size, with a total of 8,520 km². Being so far from the capital, often it considered the most isolated of the department. The population exceeds by some 1,500 people, so it is not too populated in relation to its total area district. As for productive activities, breeding goats, cattle and horses also it develops.
The capital city of the same name of Punta del Agua, and is located in a small oasis with very particular characteristics. The villa is reached by crossing the provincial route 179 and 190. Each year the anniversary of the district is celebrated in conjunction with other events such as the Expo Goat (involving secondary schools in this and other districts) and the Feast Patronal in honor of Santa Rosa de Lima, which includes a procession through the village streets and Holy Mass.
