El Diamante River rises in the lagoon that gives it its name , La Laguna del Diamante, in the Cordillera de los Andes. The hydroelectric development of its basin is of great importance. The places that make up the circuit are: The dam Reyunos , El Tigre dam , Dam Galileo Vitale and Villa 25 de Mayo. This circuit can be performed from the city or may be combined with other circuits but there is also the possibility of vacationing in any of the places that make up the circuit as each of them has its own charm .
Villa 25 de Mayo
Just 25 km from the City of San Rafael is Villa 25 de Mayo, considered a true museum inhabited with adobe village and ancient streets flanked by Carolinians . Arose after the founding of Fort San Rafael Diamond , founded on 2 April 1805 as a result of the need to build a population center . The Fort has been declared a National Historic Landmark.
The Church of Our Lady of Carmen , located at the corner of Governor Ortega y Chacabuco, declared a National Historic Landmark and still retains the first images and clothes of the time. You can also visit the Museum Narciso Morales Sosa located opposite the Fort.
Dike Galileo Vitale
This is the first work built on the Diamante river to get their water for artificial irrigation and be distributed through a complex system of gates in concrete channels . It is located 27 km from the city and offers a magnificent landscape with trees, where you can develop recreational and camping activities. Downstream of the dam is the fourth Central Basin Diamante, called Colonels installed.
