This winery was founded by the vision and passion of Gilberto Lavaque in 1930. He follows on his grandfather’s Don José Lavaque steps in Cafayate, Salta Province, and brings the name, knowledge and winery tradition to San Rafael, Southern Mendoza oasis between the 34 & 35 degrees South parallels.
The dry, cool climate of Southern Mendoza is ideal for the development of fine, premium quality grapes. This first class producing zone houses some of the main wineries dedicated to the making of top products.
The winery is surrounded by the Cañada Seca, Barrancas del Atuel and Finca Santa Luisa vineyards and combines century old traditions with latest generation technology. There are 450 hectares winery owned with sectors owned by third parties, all supervised by our agriculturist technical team and planted with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Chardonnay and Chablis varieties.
Vessel capacity is 5,150,000 liters, 500 French oak casks, storage of 120,000 bottles and a bottling capacity of 12,000 / hour. The winery covers various wine profiles, including complex aged ones, full-bodied varietals with intense colors and blends with a younger spirit aimed for the international market.
