MOUNTAINEERING IN SAN RAFAEL

It is necessary to be fairly well trained and have strong arms and legs as well as technical skill for climbing. For safety reasons it is recommended to participate in groups and share this great experience. It is mandatory to have the right equipment and clothing especially the appropriate kind of shoes. It is advisable to get to know the terrain before starting off and make sure that weather conditions allow for ascents without running unnecessary risks which might provoke slips or falls.

Most of these trekkings and ascents take place in Valle Hermoso, a depression between two mountain chains which is reached going past the Valle de las Leñas, about 200 kilometers from San Rafael after driving on  National Routes 144 & 40 and Provincial Route 222.
