The
Diamante River is born at the heart of the Andes from the Laguna del
Diamante and the basin has been used for the production of
hydroelectric energy.
The
road takes one out of the city towards the West following Hipolito
Yrigoyen Av. as far as National Route 143 and then Provincial Route
150 where the urban zone ends and hilly terrain begins with the
so-called “San Rafael Block” of hills in the background.
LAGUNA DEL DIAMANTE
This
is a beautiful lake situated 33 kilometers from the Agua del Toro
Dam. It can be accessed by driving North through National Route 40
or, directly from the Valle del Uco, from San Carlos city to
Pareditas on Route 40, then taking RP 101 as far as the crossing
with RP 98 and arriving to the Park. It is located within the
Diamante Provincial Park.
