By taking paved Provincial Route 173, and driving 37 kilometers
out of the city one reaches the Atuel Canyon at Valle Grande. The
vegetation one finds at this spot is luscious and one hears the
murmuring waters of the Atuel River
running over rocks.
This
is a place that opens the door to the sure enjoyment of a special
holiday by being so very close to nature.
The
wall of the Valle Grande dam forms a huge emerald water mirror which
is a great temptation for the practice of swimming, diving, water
skiing, rowing, water motor sports, windsurfing, etc.
There is an all service 3-star hotel nearby. Here, the river seems
to be telling the geological story of the millennia. The area also
has many camping sites, very popular, especially in summer, offering
a wide range of services such as: electricity, public lavatories,
shaded areas, drinking water, natural pools, grocery stores,
restaurants and shops selling regional crafts.
The
river is the ideal place for rafting or kayaking while fishing
lovers may indulge their passion on the shores of the dam.
Experienced guides are available for mountaineering and trekking and
the area is also great for cycling, horse riding, four-tracks and so
on.
