EL TIGRE DAM

This dam is located 33 kilometers from the city whose water is pumped towards the Los Reyunos Lake. The waters are crystal clear and offer great fishing of “pejerrey”( a variety of mackerel typical of some Argentine rivers) and trout. It is also a wonderful spot for nautical sports and the enjoyment of beaches.

LOS REYUNOS

The Los Reyunos Dam is located 35 kilometers from the city and has a very atypical wall because it was built by using rocky materials compacted with clay allowing for a cheaper and simpler execution. It is 134 meters high and is crowned by an observatory; the access road to the central station is below the inferior level of the lake.

This dam is one of the first pumping dams in Latin America, that is, during lower consumption hours the rotation of its turbines turns around and returns the water accumulated in the compensating El Tigre dam towards the main lake.

The 734 hectare lake is sown with “pejerrey” and trout and offers good fishing. There is a Fishing and Nutical club on the Western shore as well as an apart-hotel, restaurants, bungalows and three camping sites offering all necessary services. There is also a renting service for boats, fishing boats, wind surf boards, horses and mountain bikes.
