Bodega and Estate La Abeja

Finca y Bodega La Abeja was built in 1883 by Don Rodolfo Iselin, French immigrant and founder of San Rafael, and nest to the winery he also built his imposing country residence a symbol of the French Crown’s glory.

La Abeja is considered to be the oldest in San Rafael and the historic core of the city. Rodolfo Iselin is regarded as the founding father of viticulture in San Rafael, who imported French variety fallow plants and introduced the modern techniques being implemented in France.

Mr. Iselin sold his properties to the Schlieper Family in 1911 who continue with wine and fruit production, builds a packing plant, ice factory, fruit drying plant and electricity generating plant. La Abeja Estate and Winery thus becomes the most important commercial reference of the epoch.
