Bodega Balbi is located in San Rafael, 37 degrees 4’ South latitude and 240 kilometers from Mendoza city. The perfect altitude and San Rafael’s excellent climate offer the perfect conditions for the cultivation of grapes of the highest quality.

Being at the feet of the Andes, the area is irrigated by the thawing,  pure waters  which added to the area’s low humidity, great amount of sun and light and important thermal amplitude makes for a perfect environment both for the ripening process and harvesting of high quality grapes.

Bodegas Balbi was founded in 1929 by Don Juan Balbi who made it into a prosperous family business. His wines were soon to be recognized for their quality becoming popular in the Argentine market. The Allied Domecq Company bought 100% of the winery in 1992 and implemented an investment plan in order to produce high quality wines, modernize the plant and vineyards and develop solid new names for both, the domestic and international markets.
