TOURIST TOUR: HIGH MOUNTAIN
OVERO VOLCANO
The majestic Overo Volcano which is inactive, stands at the
heart of the Andes crowned by eternal glaciers, and surrounded
by an extraordinarily beautiful landscape. The volcano is 4,629
meters high and is apt for high-class mountain climbing.
LAGUNA EL ATUEL
The Laguna del Atuel is the origin of the homonymous river and
is peppered with penitent-like rock formations close to a sulfur
mine which was abandoned in 1976. The shape looks like a natural
dike formed by a frontal moraine from ancient times. The
freezing waters come from various streams coming down from
neighboring glaciers located at 5,000 meters of altitude. The
main feeder of the Laguna forms what is known as Cascadas del
Atuel, an unbelievable sight to behold.
